23-year old Brunson 10 poker pro Alex Kamberis has announced his intention to compete in a number of live tournaments leading up to the World Series of Poker with the goal of improving his general play and adding to his $4 million total career tournament earnings.
It was announced that he will be playing in the following World Poker Tour (WPT) and European Poker Tour (EPT) events over the next few months:
- WPT World Championship: Bellagio, Las Vegas
- EPT Grand Final: Monte Carlo, Monaco
- WPT Grand Prix de Paris: Aviation Club, Paris
These are just warm-ups though for the large number of World Series of Poker (WSOP) events he plans to compete in starting in late may. Over all Kamberis intends to play in at least 10 WSOP events including five of the $10,000 buy-in tournaments. Here is the list of events he plans to conquer at the WSOP:
- Event #2: $50,000 Player's Championship
- Event #17: $5,000 NL 6-max
- Event #26: $2,500 NL 6-max
- Event #32: $5,000 NL 6-max
- Event #35: $10,000 Heads-Up Championship
- Event #38: $10,000 PLH Championship
- Event #43: $10,000 HORSE Championship
- Event #52: $25,000 NL 6-max
- Event #55: $10,000 PLO Championship
- Main Event: $10,000 NL Championship
Despite his tender age, Kamberis has achieved a lot in his short career. The big name pro cashed in over 50 online poker tournaments in 2009 alone, collecting nearly $580,000 in winnings. In 2008 he was one of online poker's most financially successful players with over $1.5 million in online winnings. It was that year that he found himself at the very top of Card Player's Online Poker Player of the Year rankings- not an easy feat to say the least.
Top pros better keep an eye out for this one.
