Autobiography of Poker Pro David “The Devilfish” Ulliott Hits Shelves this September
The autobiography of poker pro David “Devilfish” Ulliott is scheduled to hit bookshelves September 9th. Entitled, “Devilfish – The Life and Times of a Poker Legend” the book is to be published in the
Over the span of 384 pages, Ulliott will provide fans with a first-hand account of his life prior to becoming one of the preeminent stars in the international poker world. From running the streets as a youngster, to his time as a professional safecracker, to his time in jail, Ulliott tells unflinchingly real stories about what his life was like prior to entering into the world of poker in the flamboyant style we have all come to know and love.
Ulliott’s autobiography comes at a time when the poker pros are finally taking a step back from the game itself. For much of the last decade, poker pros have focused primarily on the intricacies of the poker rather than themselves when writing a book. As the game’s popularity has grown so have the variety of subjects readers are interested in. The most popular outlet for poker books in the last couple of years has been players telling their own stories, in autobiographical tell-alls. Popular books written in this format include “Check Raising The Devil,” by Mike Matusow, and “The Godfather of Poker,” by Doyle Brunson.
Ulliott’s story should be especially fascinating for readers as he was well on his way to a life of crime, jail time, or even death before finding his place in the world of poker. Although, Ulliott has gained plenty of laurels for his poker success, readers will be surprised to see that much of his old self is still there just beneath the surface. As he says, “You only win big when you risk big… Life is a blast. It don’t last. Live it long and live it f***ing fast.”
