Big Victory in Court for Full Tilt Poker
Bookmark/Search this post with:
Full Tilt Poker has prevailed in court once again. This time the five-star poker room fought off claims of fraud, libel, slander, false advertising, and racketeering by two furriest players.
In October of last year, poker players Larry “pokergirlz” Kennedy and Greg Omotoy were accused of multi-accounting, using illegal poker robots and as a result had $80,000 seized from their Full Tilt accounts.
In revenge the duo filed a civil suit against Full Tilt, accusing the poker room of using “bots” of its own to increase the chance of luck in the game and fill unoccupied seats.
The civil law suit was also set to disclose details on a related “speculative” grand jury investigation of Full Tilt Poker, as the plaintiffs sought early discovery and called for the unsealing of information pertaining to their case.
However, the case of Larry Kennedy and Greg Omtoy v. Full Tilt Poker, was dismissed Monday by a US District Court in Central California. Therefore, any information regarding the “speculative” grand jury investigation is no longer applicable.
In another triumph for Full Tilt Poker, the state of Kentucky has had its request for discovery rejected by a Franklin Circuit Court in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Apparently, the Court found that Pocket Kings, the parent company of Full Tilt Poker, had not been served in a timely matter.
The Court ruled the following: “As of entry of this order (April 23, 2010), the only named defendant, Pocket Kings LTD, has not been served. The Court finds that allowing discovery here would be premature until Pocket Kings has been served, and until the Court has reviewed any responsive pleadings that Pocket Kings may file.”
Sources close to Full Tilt Poker maintain that a “speculative” grand jury investigation into the company is only a rumor, noting that the company has never been notified of such a thing.
Miss B says: That’s one out of three cases down for the poker room. Looks like the people at Full Tilt are play their hands right. Comments anyone?
