Dealer Arrested for Stealing Chips at the Bellagio

News broke last week of an alleged theft at the Bellagio which took place in Bobby’s Room, which is named after Bobby Baldwin, the 1978 WSOP Champion. This room offers the most elite level of experiences any poker room can provide. Many famous poker pros have played in this room as well as celebrities. The highest limit poker action is found there with a minimum buy-in of $20,000. So when someone steals chips from this room, it’s not a small amount.

The alleged thief is a dealer who is said to have slipped the two 1k chips down his sleeve using magician’s techniques right under everyone’s nose. Each time a dealer touches the chips he or she has to show their hands for everyone and the cameras to see. It is not known for sure how the dealer stole the chips. Not much is being said about the arrest but some are saying that when the pot was split between 2 players, the dealer snagged one from each pile.

A dealer named Tony was caught after player Erik123 realized that he was 1k short in a split Omaha 8 pot. When the other guy counted his, he was short as well. Bellagio security reviewed the tapes and finally discovered the dealer was taking the chips. He was busted and the police escorted him out of the building.

This is not the first time dealers have stolen money from the Bellagio. This dealer got too greedy trying to steal so much at one time. He should have known that someone would count their chips when it comes to thousands of dollars. This is why many poker players have turned to online poker rooms where their money is kept secure and transaction histories are kept for players to see.
