EPT and PokerStars Team Up to Bring Players a Golf-Poker Championship Event
PokerStars and the European Poker Tour (EPT) have joined forces to create the world’s first Golf-Poker Championship entitled “Fairways and Felts.” The tournament will be hosted as a side event to the EPT Vilamoura stop and registration is open to the public via the PokerStars lobby or the Vilamoura Casino itself. Buy-ins to the event are set at €1,100, which covers the €770+€70 poker portion of the event, the €260 golf portion of the event, transportation between the golf course and the casino, buffet meals, a PokerStars goody bag, and an invitation to the Awards Dinner.
Since the tournament is truly one of a kind, it might confuse some people so here is a brief run-down of how it will work. Day one will be the golf event; all players will be randomly assigned to a team of four. Each member of the team will take a shot and then the team will decide who’s shot to go with. The other three members will remove their respective balls and play will continue from where the chosen shot’s ball landed and so on and so forth. Day two of the event will be the poker tournament portion. It will feature a fairly typical format with one twist; players will be awarded bonuses based on the previous day’s golfing. These bonuses will vary from 750 chips for scoring under par to an EPT London prize package for sinking a hole in one.
