Isildur1 Upset Over Losing to Haxton in the First SuperStar Showdown on PokerStars
The PokerStars blog recently discussed Isildur1's defeat by Isaac “PhilIvey2694” Haxton in the first ever Superstar Showdown. The two players had very different opinions about each other and the match itself and Isildur1 seemed to be something of a sore loser.
Isildur1 had a very low opinion of Haxton who recently joined Team PokerStars and his No Limit Hold'em play. He said in part, “I want to play this guy again, because I didn’t feel he was so good. I don’t think he deserved to win.” He said that Haxton was “too passive” and that he was “a weak player.” He also said that if it was up to him Haxton would be his opponent in the next SuperStar Showdown, “He ran too good and I want re-match in a game for 5,000 hands. I would beat him easily. I am certain.”
Haxton was obviously upset by Isildur1's comments. Asked how it felt to compete against the mysterious online player, Haxton said, “No one has ever more consistently made me miserable when playing against them.” Considering that he has competed against some of the best players in the world including Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius, and Phil Galfond, that is saying a lot. Haxton admits that he played more defensively than he usually would but he said that, that was his strategy going into the match. Isildur1 is known for being extremely aggressive and a defensive playing style is one of the best ways to handle such an opponent. He showed no interest in a re-match and seems content with his tens of thousands of dollar in winnings.
No word yet on when or who, Isildur1 will play in the next Superstar Showdown.
