Phil Laak Wins the Party Poker World Open V
It was some tough competition yesterday as the final table of the Party Poker World Open V concluded with Phil Laak as the champion after going heads up with Jan Veit for the $250,000 first place prize.
Laak had to overcome a playing field with none other than Poker Hall of Fame Inductee Mike Sexton as well as Luke “Full Flush” Schwartz, Andy Black, Jennifer Tilly and many other poker pros.
Jennifer Tilly and Phil Laak have been dating since 2005, so the two had to compete against each other at the final table which made for some entertainment!
FullFlush has been through some rough times lately involving a sandwich and didn’t catch a break at the final table. Phil Laak caught the online pro with all his chips in the middle.Laak held AJ and Schwartz held AQ. Luckily for Laak he hit a Jack and raked the pot leaving Schwartz with yet another thing to complain about.
Jennifer Tilly was eliminated from the final table early and was able to switch to her partner’s side as he claimed victory over his last opponent. It is probably a good thing that it didn’t come down to heads-up between Laak and Tilly although that would have been exciting!
