PokerGives Helps People See Poker in a More Positive Light

PokerGives was founded by Linda Johnson, Jan Fisher, Lisa Tenner, and Mike Sexton to unify the poker community in its efforts to raise money for charitable organizations. 95% of all contributions made to the organization go directly to charities supported by the group. At the moment they are supporting four highly respected charitable organizations, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Special Olympics, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, and the Step by Step Foundation.

The hope is, PokerGives will bring attention to the many charitable efforts made by the poker community. The organization feels that poker players are often given a bad wrap and they want even those who oppose gambling to take a step back and think, “Hey, those poker people are all right.  They’re contributing a lot of money to worthwhile charities.”

PokerGives provides the poker community with plenty of opportunities to help those in need while enjoying their favorite game. September is the first ever PokerGives month and to celebrate card rooms across the country will be hosting special PokerGives charity events where 50% of the prize pool will go directly to the organization. To keep things interesting, the winners of official PokerGives events will be entered into a special drawing for additional prizes including free seminars from Johnson, Fisher and Sexton.

To find an event in your area visit PokerGives.org today and make a Royal Flush in the game of life for someone in need. Who knows if you play your cards right you could just end up earning a little extra cash along the way.
