The PokerStars Macau Poker Cup Launches Next Month

PokerStars recently announced the launch date of the third Macau Poker Cup which will be taking place next month at the Casino Grand Lisboa in Macau, China.

The event will officially begin on March third, run through the March seventh and will feature multiple events including live satellites to the Red Dragon event where a guaranteed million dollar prize pool awaits.

In addition to the million dollar Red Dragon event, there will be a bounty event, a $200k guaranteed hold’em event, a Deep Stack structured tournament and a charity tournament where $50,000 in extra prize money will be used to benefit a local charity.

Last Year, PokerStars held the event in October and it turned out to be a huge hit with a whopping 247 players in attendance for the Red Dragon event. The prize pool created by the large number of entrants totaled HDK $2.3 million.

As part of the 4 day event, players will be able to participate in the $10,000 buy-in event which is topped only by the $20,000 buy-in Main Event. An added bonus of competing in these events is the fact that players will be able to accumulate points towards becoming the Asia Player of the Year.

At the end of 2010 when one talented Asian is crowned the Asia Player of the Year, they will win a one year sponsorship agreement with PokerStars Macau. Players can begin earning towards the title by competing in the events at the Macau Poker Cup warm up tournaments on the 19^th and 20^th of February.

Players can gain FREE access to the Red Dragon and other Macau Poker Cup events by participating in online qualifiers at PokerStars.com. These tournaments can be found under the events tab in the tournament lobby under Macau.
