PokerStars NAPT Announces New Stop at the Bicycle Casino in LA

The PokerStars North American Poker Tour (NAPT) has added a new stop to its Season One schedule. Scheduled to run November 12th through the 17th the new NAPT Los Angeles tournament will take place at the legendary Bicycle Casino. Buy-ins for the tournament are set at $5,000. Should the event perform up to expectations it could easily become one of the largest championship events ever held in the city.

“I’ve played at The Bike in the past and there is a strong local presence in Los Angeles…It’s always really important for a tournament’s success to have a strong core of local players as it gives even more incentive to travel to the events when you know there will be big money on the line. I’m looking forward to playing,” said Daniel Negreanu following the announcement of the tournament.

He won’t be alone.  A number of other Team PokerStars pros have tentatively slated to take part in the tournament. Just a few of the big names expected to turn out include Vanessa Rousso, Barry Greenstein, Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier, Greg Raymer and reigning WSOP champion Joe Cada.

The managing partner of the Bicycle Casino, Haig Kelegian, is excited of course about the upcoming event, “We are very enthusiastic to secure the West Coast Tour stop. We clearly recognize the NAPT as the next major happening in the evolution of poker, and we have no doubt that the NAPT will entice and attract players from all over the world.”

As of this moment the only event on schedule is the NAPT Main Event but the NAPT website assures us that “there will also be a great selection of side events to choose from,” when the tournament roles around in November.

No word yet on whether or not the event will be televised. If the tour decides to air the event it is likely that ESPN will pick up the tab since they have televised NAPT matches in the past. Rumor has it though the NAPT Los Angeles stop will not receive any television coverage for one reason or another.

The 2010 NAPT kicked off in January with the wildly successful PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. It then moved to its first stop on U.S. soil at the Venetian in Las Vegas back in February. So far the tournament series has proven to be wildly successful and it is expected to enjoy continued growth.

Right now the tournament series is on break because of legal complications related to its online gaming status and in order to avoid competition from the World Series of Poker (WSOP).

Information on future tournament events is available on the PokerStars webpage. Start an account today and earn your way in to any one of these events for only a portion of the original buy-in cost. Don’t miss out on your chance to win big playing the game you know and love. Get started now!
