Rumble Going Down in the Poker World

Last week I reported that the 3rd annual Ante Up for Africa will take place on July 2nd. Well, it appears that there’s a second fundraising challenge coming up, but this one doesn’t necessarily involve cards and chips.

According to PokerNews, on July 1st, “Girl vs. Girl” will put UltimateBet’s Liv Boeree against PokerNews’ Melissa Castello in an all out charity boxing match. That’s right, the two ladies will battle it out for charity. Guys, have I gotten your attention yet?

The match will be sponsored by PokerBattle, PokerNews and UltimateBet. PokerRoad Radio will offer ringside coverage of the event (so, yes, you can listen to every punch, jab and kick).

During the past few days, both women have gone through intense training sessions in preparation for the fight. It will be held at Barry’s Boxing Center on S. Highland in Las Vegas, however it will remain closed to the public.

The two charities benefiting from the event have been announced. Boeree is fighting for the Marie Curie Cancer Trust, while Castello will be fighting on behalf of the Hemophilia Foundation of Southern California. The winner’s charity will receive $1,000, while the other will get a $500 donation.

How exciting is this? Not only will there be non-stop poker playing this week, since the WSOP is still underway, but there will also be a hardcore cat fight within the poker world? With charities reaping the benefits? It’s definitely stacking up to be some week.

Now, who do you want to win, Boeree or Castello?
