Texas Hold'em Top Sites
Texas Hold'em is by far one of the most popular poker games around. Made popular by movies and TV shows, the game has spread around the world. Texas Hold'em is a community card game where players compete to get the best hand. According to history, the game was invented in the early 1900's in Robstown, Texas. Called only Hold'em at the time, it quickly became popular throughout Texas and eventually in Las Vegas, where a group of gamblers took it. The Golden Nugget Casino in downtown Vegas was, at the time, the only casino that offered the game.
Tom Moore held a gambling convention in 1969 that featured the first ever poker tournament. In 1970, Benny and Jack Binion acquired the rights to the Gambling Fraternity Convention and renamed it the World Series of Poker. A journalist then suggested that the series' main event be no-limit Texas Hold'em. The Binions agreed and since then Texas Hold'em has stayed the main event. Thanks to Doyle Brunson's book "Super/System," the game reached audiences around the country, as the book revolutionized the way poker was played. It was one of the first books to ever mention Texas Hold'em as a game. After a trip to Vegas, a duo of bookmakers brought the game to Europe, spreading it officially across the world.
