WSOP: Voting Now Open for 2010 Poker Hall of Fame

With the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event now well underway, it is time to consider the next big WSOP event, the 2010 Poker Hall of Fame. Harrah’s and the WSOP officials have formally opened voting to the public.

Poker fans from around the world are encouraged to visit the WSOP website to vote for the individual who he/she believes should be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. Each person has only one vote.

Last year’s nomination process was surrounded with controversy and frustrated fans after voters nominated Tom Dwan but WSOP officials revoked his standings because he did not meet the requirement for “standing the test of time” clause. According to WSOP officials the young poker player apparently wasn’t fit to be amongst the Poker Hall of Fame as a nosebleed high stakes online cash games.

Voting will be held from now until September 1st, when Harrah's and WSOP officials will announce the public results. However, finalist will have to go through one final step before they are inducted. The finalists will be voted upon by the 16 current Hall of Fame members and members of the poker media. After that, the poker player with the greatest amount of votes will be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame during the Main Event final table in November 2010.

Miss B says: Voting will be conducted differently this year than in the past. Previously, only 75% of the official votes were needed for induction into the Hall. Last year the honor went to World Poker Tour host and PartyPoker spokesman Mike Sexton. I think my vote will go to Vanessa Russo. There needs to be a woman in the Hall to bright things up.
