Online Poker Tournament for Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program

The CEREUS Network introduced a series of online fundraisers benefiting national charities called “Second Sundays” last month.

The tournament series allows players to earn some real money and prizes while helping out a good cause and raising awareness. Last month’s tournament helped raise money for the San Antonio AIDS Foundation and this month’s proceeds will benefit the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai.

Justin Young Gives Back

Poker players are known for being incredibly giving. With events such as Ante Up for Africa, the players ensure that charities get treated right. Poker pro Justin Young is no different. Along with a group of fellow poker professionals, Young is putting together a charity poker tournament on July 24th to benefit the Homestead at Boulder City.

Homestead at Boulder City is a popular assisted living facility that’s run by Volunteers of America. Within the last two weeks, the facility has lost 18 elderly residents.

Rumble Going Down in the Poker World

Last week I reported that the 3rd annual Ante Up for Africa will take place on July 2nd. Well, it appears that there’s a second fundraising challenge coming up, but this one doesn’t necessarily involve cards and chips.

According to PokerNews, on July 1st, “Girl vs. Girl” will put UltimateBet’s Liv Boeree against PokerNews’ Melissa Castello in an all out charity boxing match. That’s right, the two ladies will battle it out for charity. Guys, have I gotten your attention yet?
