Carter Phillips Takes the Title at Event 16 in His First World Series of Poker
Carter Phillips won his first ever World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet yesterday for event No. 16 No-Limit Hold’em / Six Handed.
The 21 year-old poker pro dominated the final table taking out the competition in less than three levels of play. Philips who made waves at last year’s European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona Main Event is now only one World Poker Tour (WPT) victory away from being one of the only players to have won a title in all three major poker tournament series.
“The second table I had today was by far the toughest table I have ever played at in any tournament,” Phillips said. “I think the European tour is softer than [the field] deep in these WSOP tournaments. I think this is a bigger accomplishment.”
In addition to the much coveted bracelet Phillips earned himself $482,774 for his first place finish pushing his total career tournament earnings past the $2 million mark.
Asked about his plans for the future Phillips said, “My main goal now after this is to be the first two-time EPT [main event] winner.” Considering the fact that Phillips won a bracelet in his first ever attempt at the WSOP we here at Pokershark don’t doubt that he has it in him.
