Day 2 Update: Phil Hellmuth Leading the Way at the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star

Day 3 begins today with 27 players remaining in the running for the championship title at the World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Star event and Phil Hellmuth is leading the way.

Day 2 was an eventful one and moved at a fast pace quickly dwindling from 126 to just a fraction of that ending just after 10pm PST. The final players have returned to the tables and are battling it out as we speak. They will continue to do so until 6 finalists are left for the final table.

The chip leader, Hellmuth has managed to build himself a nice stack of 550,000. Other notable players who finished the day off on the leaderboard are Faraz Jaka with 332,500, Hasan Habib with 496,000, Dan O’Brien with 439,000, Nick Schulman with 381,500 and Brian Rast with 332,000.

Some other prominent poker pros who have secured themselves a piece of the prize pool by continuing in the tournament today are Jonathan Little, John Cernuto, Scotty Nguyen and Joe Elpayaa.

Here are the top 10 Chip Count Leaders as of Day 2:

Andy Seth: 453,000

Dan O’Brien: 439,000

Matt Keikoan: 426,500

Nick Schulman: 381,500

David Forster: 305,500

Eliminated pros from day 2 include J.C. Tran, Howard Lederer, Greg Mueller, Mike Sexton, Phil Laak, Mike Matusow, Daniel Negreanu, Christina Lindley, Freddy Deeb, Barry Greenstein and Joe Cassidy.
