Luke Schwartz, Erik Seidel and Phil Ivey Among the World Poker Tour London Entrants
Day 1a of the inaugural World Poker Tour (WPT) London event at the Mayfair Palm Beach Casino had a surprisingly low turnout. Only 72 players were in attendance for Day 1A but more players are expected to join in on the action tomorrow as players begin to bust out of the EPT Vilamoura event. Late registration is available for the WPT London event so it’s possible many players attempted to fit both series into their schedules.
A number of top pros turned out to compete in the first day of play. Just a few of the big names who turned out for Day 1a include Erik Seidel, Phil Ivey, Roland De Wolfe, Huck Seed, Luke "Full Flush" Schwartz, Andrew Robl, Ian Frazer, Felipe Ramos, James Akenhead and Praz Bansi.
Erik Seidel currently enjoys the chip lead which he took about a half an hour before the end of the first day of play. This is Seidel’s 101st WPT event so it should be interesting to see if he can maintain his lead during Day 2 of play.
Day 1b is set to begin today at 12 p.m. London time and the final table is scheduled play out this Saturday.
Here is a look at the top ten chip counts coming out of Day 1a:
226,200 Seidel, Erik
188,600 Shakerchi, Talal
149,800 Atkinson, Bruce
146,200 Ivey, Phil
124,300 Kurgandu, Igor
120,300 Mumtaz, Asim
112,000 Mattsson Saarisilta, Nichlas
110,700 O’Leary, Kevin
108,300 Bansi, Pramesh
103,500 Schmejkal, Ernst
As always stay tuned for more news and updates.
