PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Joins amFAR by Supporting AIDS Research and Prevention
One of the most looked forward to poker tournaments of the year is the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, having grown dramatically since the first event in 2004; the tour has given millions of dollars to its participants. Now, the PCA and its poker players will be giving something in return during the next PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.
The 2010 PCA will be hosting a charity event to help the worldwide AIDS epidemic by donating to the amFAR aids research organization.
PokerStars and amFAR have teamed up to support fundraising which will go towards HIV and aids awareness and research. During the 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, players can take part in the $5,250 buy-in event that will donate half of the prize pool to amFAR.
Celebrities and Poker Pros are will be attending the event including many of the Team PokerStars Pros and NHL Olympic gold medal winner Mats Sundin. Professional tennis player Boris Becker will also be among those in attendance.
For those of us who aren’t able to hand over a $5,000 buy-in, there will be a satellite on December 13, 2009 at 4pm ET on PokerStars.com. This gives players an opportunity to contribute to a wonderful cause while competing for a prize package that will have the top two finishers on their way to the PCA next year. The buy-in for the satellite is only $5.50.
Players can still enter qualifying satellites for the 2010 PCA Main Event. Visit PokerStars.com to get into the running towards a trip to the Bahamas for the Main Event taking place January 5-11, 2010.
