PokerStars CEO Gabriel Woslovsky Stepping Down
Several news sources have reported that the Chief Executive Officer of PokerStars will be leaving the company.
Poker News published a letter from top officials saying, “PokerStars announced today that Gabi Campos has decided to step down from his position as Chief Executive Officer, effective Feb. 1, 2012, to pursue other opportunities. The company thanks Gabi for his hard work and commitment and wishes him the best in all his future endeavors. A search for Gabi’s replacement is under way.”
Campos officially became the CEO of Stars in October 2010 with a good amount of online gaming experience under his belt. He helped 888’s Dragonfish sites increase their revenue 33 percent within the 2008 to 2009 period. Dragonfish accounts for 20 percent of 888’s revenue.
This marks the third high ranked position in which PokerStars has been forced to fill in less than a year. Many noted their reasons for leaving as wanting to seek out new “challenges” and “ventures.”
Big name pros have also left the company after years of helping to promote the brand including Greg Raymer and Joe Hachem.
Hachem’s official announcement for his leaving the company read, “It’s been a great run with PokerStars and I’m proud of my association with the people and the company. But it’s time for me to pursue other career opportunities and it will be fun to have some down time to spend with my family. I look forward to the future with much excitement and anticipation and will always have fond memories of my time at PokerStars.”
Despite many obstacles the company has faced in the past year, PokerStars remains the top online poker room in the world and this doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon. They bring in a daily cash game traffic average of at least six times their nearest competitors in the industry- PartyPoker.com.
