PokerStars responds to Annie Duke's Remarks about Daniel Negreanu's Derogatory Insults

PokerStars has responded to Annie Duke’s highly charged response to their recent comments regarding comments made by Daniel Negreanu in a recent interview.

Last week, Negreanu called Duke a “fucking cunt” during what he thought was an “off the record” conversation with the article’s writer Mark Stuart. When the comments were published, tempers flared and since that time a lot of back and forth has been going on.

When PokerStars responded to the debacle by saying, “Although Daniel Negreanu is a Team PokerStars Pro, he is an entity to himself and as such will always be encouraged to express his views and speak his mind as he would otherwise do so, PokerStars Pro or not,” Anne Duke fired back by saying,

“This is not about his views. It is about a particular word he chose to express those views. The word “c**t” is not an opinion, it is an abusive epithet, and PokerStars is completely ignoring the use of that term in their response.”

PokerStars has since stated that the first e-mail was not PokerStars’ official response on the issue and that, “PokerStars does not support the use of derogatory or hurtful language directed at any other player. While this was a personal matter between two players, we wish that better judgment had been used in the choice of words.”

Negreanu has yet to offer an apology to Duke which has caused a lot of tension. It’s common knowledge that the two haven’t been on good standing for quite some time.

As always we’ll keep you posted on any further developments.
