Sorel Mizzi Second in Bluff's Player of the Year Race Despite Recent Alligations of Cheating Scandal

Sorel Mizzi may be experiencing a lot of drama off the felt but it doesn’t appear to be affecting his playing ability. Last week he secured a runner-up finish in the European Poker Tour (EPT) Tallinn High Rollers event earning 175 POY points towards the BLUFF/ESPN Power Rankings. Mizzi is now ranked second in the world with less then 100 points separating him from the title.

Jason Mercier who currently sits in the top position has not logged nearly as many tables as Mizzi in the last month. The 2009 BLUFF Player of the Year, has not logged a single cash finished since the WSOP Main Event. He is however, expected to turn out later this month for the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) which is scheduled to kick off at the London-based Casino at the Empire on September 14th.

Plenty of points are still up for grabs at tournament events around the world so it’s still anybody’s game. Mercier still has the obvious advantage but if he were to bomb the WSOPE he could fall to the number two spot.

Here’s a look at the top twenty players in the BLUFF/ESPN Power Rankings:

1. Jason Mercier - 1,907.48
2. Sorel Mizzi - 1,822.50
3. Eric Baldwin - 1,442.96
4. Daniel Alaei - 1,281.64
5. Michael Binger - 1,190.52
