UB.com Eliminates Aruba Poker Classic to Focus Elsewhere
UB.com is working to give online poker fans more of a reason to choose their services. Owner and Operator, Paul Leggett has confirmed that the site will be putting the Aruba Poker Classic on hold this year to focus on other major events and providing players with more online poker competitions including a new tournament series.
Their plans for the year include developing a monthly $500k Guaranteed Tournament which could develop into a million-dollar event, creating additional pro-related competitions and running the UBOC twice a year.
For those who are unfamiliar with the UBOC it is UB.com’s signature online poker tournament series. This year marked its fourth and most successful run. The twelve day poker series features a $4 million plus prize pool with two $1 million Guaranteed Events, and a number of special promotions which award players at all stake levels for their accomplishments.
Thanks to the ever growing popularity of the event this year UB.com was able to over-deliver on their prize pool promises. The first $1 million guaranteed event attracted so many players that the site was able to inflate the prize pool to over $1.5 million and the second $1 million guaranteed event was equally successful in that fact. Many expect both events to grow by next year which is probably why the site plans to cash in on two contests instead of just the one this year.
"Over the last year, we have been redefining the UB brand in every way. We love the Aruba Poker Classic event but we think we can do a lot more for our players by investing in new events and rewards," said Leggett who expressed his condolences for the Aruba event’s cancellation.
Leggett went on to make it clear that UB.com will continue to offer players access to the world's top poker tournaments such as the WSOP and major WPT events in their ongoing online poker satellites. Players will actually be happy to see some of the benefits of the change of emphasis in the form of major WSOP incentives and additional loyalty benefits.
