WPT Legends of Poker Won by Stock Trader Andy Frankenberger
Former Wall Street trader turned poker pro Andy Frankenberger won the World Poker Tour (WPT) Legends of Poker title in Los Angeles yesterday. Frankenberger had lead going into the final table and despite losing the advantage early on he managed to come back to win the title and the $750,000 first place prize.
"I'm just in shock right now," he said shortly after the match.
Prior to this week, Frankenberger’s career tournament earnings were just under $200k. His first major win was at one of the Venetian Deep Stack $2000 events during the WSOP and now that he has another major win under his belt though Frankenberger plans to compete in more major tournaments.
"You will be seeing a lot more of me for sure," he said laughing.
Next up for the WPT is the inaugural London Poker Classic which kicks off on August 30th. A number of the big names are expected to be in attendance. We’ll keep you posted on any major developments.
Here’s a look at the official final table result of the WPT Legends of Poker Championship:
1. Andy Frankenberger $750,000
2. Kyle Wilson $370,000
3. Tom Lee $174,772
4. Tom Braband $109,000
