Phil Hellmuth still WSOP Record Holder
Despite his recent bad luck and other poker pros trying desperately to break his record, Phil Hellmuth still holds on to the record for most bracelets won at the World Series of Poker.
Poker pro Johnny “The Orient Express” Chan tried winning his 11th career WSOP championship gold bracelet this year, tying Phil “Poker Brat” Hellmuth Jr., but he fell short. Chan, instead, remains at second place, with Doyle “Texas Dolly” Brusnon with 10 right behind him.
Thomas Somach of PokerHelper reported that “Chan was attempting to win 2009 WSOP Event #29, a no-limit Texas Hold’em heads up tournament that had a $10,000 buy-in, a prize pool of about $2.4 million, 256 entrants and 32 payouts. Chan finished tied for fifth in the event. The touney was won by Leo Wolpert of Fairfax, Virginia, USA.”
