Annie Duke was born and raised in Concord, New Hampshire. She grew up in a house where card playing was as natural as eating. After the first month of playing poker, Duke made $70K, allowing her and her husband to move to Las Vegas, where she pursued poker professionally.

Duke quickly managed to solidify a spot for herself within the poker world. In 2004 she beat out a group of 234 players in the WSOP $2000 buy-in Omaha Hi/Lo Split and won her first WSOP bracelet. Later that year, she won $2 million in the No-Limit Texas Hold’em winner-take-all invitation-only WSOP Tournament of Champions.
