John Juanda

John Juanda was born in Indonesia on July 8, 1971. He was raised in Medan, Indonesia but has a Chinese background. He ran for his high school track team for the 200 meter and 5000 meter runs. In 1990, Juanda moved to the United States to attend the Oklahoma State University and then Seattle University where he received an MBA. For a little while, he made money selling bibles as a door to door salesman. Juanda currently resides in Marina Del Rey, California.

It was between 2001 and 2002 that Juanda made his appearance into the poker world at the World Series of Poker winning 4 World Series of Poker and a World Poker Open Championship titles. He was recognized by Cardplayer Magazine as the tournament player of the year. Two years later in Connecticut, he won the inaugural Professional Poker Tour at Foxwood’s Casino.
Once the ball began rolling for Juanda, it never stopped and in 2005 he took home a $500,000 first place prize at the Monte Carlo Millions Consolation tournament. He also finished in sixth place in the Main Event and second place in the Full Tilt Poker Invitational Live from Monte Carlo Event. He was on a roll. The next year he took down the first place prize at the Crown Australia Poker Championship speed poker event where he competed against the best of the best including Barry Greenstein, Mike Sexton and Phil Ivey.
Juanda has placed in more tournaments than many other poker pros and has earned himself the right to be called one of the best. He has 49 cashes at WSOP events making him ninth for lifetime WSOP cashes. Juanda has seen many final tables and made millions in live tournament winnings. John Juanda can be found playing in the Full Tilt poker room and is a member of the Full Tilt team.
