Shortly thereafter, he received a sponsorship deal from PokerStars and he has been focusing on competing in live tournaments ever since.
When he isn't duking it out on the felt or playing online using the screen name ‘johnduhamel’ he enjoys listening to music, and playing hockey. Duhamel is such a big hockey fan that during his epic heads up round his fans wore Montreal Canadians jersey's too cheer him on and after the event he donated $100,000 of his winnings to the Montreal Canadians Children's Foundation, which is the largest individual donation ever made to the organization.
Despite all of his success Duhamel hasn't let things go to his head. As of this bio being written he still lives in his home town and attends his favorite hockey team's home games, albeit from a much better seat.
