Paul Wasicka

Name: Paul Wasicka
Winnings to Date: $7,628,127Paul Wasicka grew up in Dallas, Texas, playing soccer and skill games in his spare time. After moving to Boulder, Colorado, his competitive drive kicked in as he started skiing, bowling, and playing chess. During a trip through Vancouver, Wasicka tried his hand at a casino, putting down a simple $10 bet at a blackjack table. He walked away with $100. Soon, he was hooked. By the end of the 5 week trip he had earned $17,000. After a quick 15 minute lesson on the ins and outs of poker, Wasicka placed 9th out of 100 people in a Denver poker tournament. After that, he learned that it’s easy to make money playing. In the fall of 2004, he quit his job and turned pro. After some money management issues, he took control of his skill and played responsibly. After scoring 15th place in the WPT, he took some time off. In 2007 he got 12th place at the Aussie Millions and then won the NBC National Heads Up Tournament.
