Tuan Lam

Tuan Lam is best known for his incredible 2nd place finish in the 2007 WSOP Main Event. Before his amazing success, however, he was born on January 1, 1966 in the middle of the Vietnam War. At the age of 19 he immigrated to Toronto, Canada. As a married father of two, he was introduced to poker by some friends while working as a laborer for a metal company. Upon first learning the game, he realized that he had a gift and quickly turned pro. His first major tournament was the 2005 WSOP $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em where he placed 76th, earning him $3,290. The next year he went on to compete in the 2006 WSOP Limit Hodl’em Shootout where he placed 46th, receiving $7,153. In 2007 he, of course, placed 2nd in the WSOP World Championship No-Limit Texas Hold’em event, earning him $4,840,981.
