Vivek Rajkumar

Name: Vivek Rajkumar

Winnings to Date: $3,979,475

Something of a poker prodigy Vivek Rajkumar was born in India, but spent most of his childhood in Singapore before finally moving to the states at the age of 12. After showing a high aptitude for academics he was able to skip middle school and most of high school and enroll in the University of Washington at the tender age of 15. During his senior year of college, his friends introduced him to poker and he started playing poker online. At 19, he graduated with a degree in applied mathematical sciences and computer engineering and landed a coveted job with Microsoft. Less than a year later however, he left Microsoft in order to pursue poker full time.

Though Rajkumar was still too young to legally gamble in the US he moved to Las Vegas and started taking down major online tournaments. In 2007 he finally turned 21 and was able to take part in the World Series of Poker (WSOP), during his first run he caused quite a stir cashing five times and even making it to a final table. In 2008, he won his first WPT title and set a WPT record by needing only 48 hands to secure his victory at the final table. Over the past few years he has built a reputation for his consistent live tournament performances and happy demeanor.

Rajkumar is easily the highest earning Indian player of all time and has already grinded his way into the top 100 all time money list. In just his first two years alone he amassed close to $2 million in live tournament earnings and so far he has shown no signs of slowing down.

Considering that he is still relatively new to the live tournament circuit we expect to see many great things from him in the years to come. Those who are interested can catch him playing online at FullTiltPoker.com.
